LIFE IS MISSION
“Life is Mission” is an interdenominational, “grass roots,” contemporary evangelical movement of everyday missionaries in different vocations focused on the mission of Jesus Christ. It is supported by the associates, businesses, churches and communities of The Center for Missional Leadership. Our primary focus is the everyday mission of the American church, the renewal of discipleship in America and reciprocal mission in the America's.
We appeal to each Christian, business, faith community and denomination in the America's to embrace the following:
1) MISSION. Our mission is to point to Jesus Christ as being Lord and Savior, to join Him in His mission to the world, and to engage His people of faith in a lifetime of mission as the purpose of life. We are stewards of His multiplying, centrifugal mission, knowing that our sole purpose in life is to engage in the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ, by demonstration and by proclamation.
LIFE IS MISSION.
2) UNITY. We do not fix our attention upon the institutions of the church, non-essential doctrine, denominational differences, or anything else that may potentially divide us. We do focus on Jesus Christ alone as our sovereign Lord, gracious Savior, redeemer, provider, defender, sustainer, authority and creator. We direct our hearts and minds to becoming true vessels of His grace to one another, and to each of His children.
WE ARE THE CHURCH.
3) DISCIPLESHIP. Our faith must validate our true identity, affirm our purpose and demonstrate the ultimate mission we are committed to. Faith communities are made up of disciples who will "make" disciples. As disciples, it is vital that we, the church, not be divided by non-essential doctrine, blinded by institutions, political affiliations or stand in judgment of God’s children. These issues have plagued the church and compromised its witness throughout history. True disciples will demonstrate and proclaim the grace of the gospel.
WE ARE STEWARDS OF HIS GRACE.
4) REPENTANCE. With repentant hearts, we must face the reality of our current sin nature and context, and restore the mission and values that have existed since the founding of our nation. We recommit to the faith, character and integrity that will allow us to ultimately demonstrate the grace-centered leadership of Christ to the world solely by His grace. At this point in our nation's history, we must now become a leader "for" the globe, not a leader "of" the globe.
WE ARE CALLED TO SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP. 5) HUMILITY. Our prayer and hope for America is that we each surrender to, be obedient to, and depend upon Jesus Christ, bringing glory to His name, and demonstrating His love to His people by acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8)
